Founded in 1983 as a family-owned business and now backed by private equity, the company employs approximately 150 people across facilities in the US, UK, and Asia.  ## The Challenge MicroCare runs its entire global technology operation, which includes end-user support, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, phone systems, and AI strategy across sites in Connecticut, Colorado, the UK, and Asia, with a lean IT team of just two people. For most organizations that size, taking on major technology initiatives while keeping daily operations running simply isn't possible. Every new project means researching vendors, evaluating solutions, managing implementations, and supporting whatever gets deployed, and MicroCare didn't have the internal capacity to do it all. The stakes made the gap even more pressing. When Nathan Miller joined as IT Director, MicroCare was setting out to modernize its legacy infrastructure and an outdated MPLS network – foundational work the company needed to complete in order to scale, support international expansion, and pursue its growth goals. Without a partner who could operate as a true extension of the team, those initiatives would have stalled before they started. ## The Solution C4 Communications, a trusted MicroCare partner for more than 20 years, stepped in through its C4 Assurance full lifecycle management program – a model that supports clients from pre-planning and vendor evaluation through implementation and ongoing day-two support. Drawing on its deep familiarity with MicroCare's environment, C4 first helped the company move its legacy infrastructure to Azure, working directly with TierPoint to design the environment and build a complete disaster recovery strategy behind it. C4 anticipated technical considerations, like the Azure ExpressRoute connectivity required by MicroCare's existing MPLS network, that a lean internal team would have struggled to navigate alone. From there, C4 identified vendors to replace MicroCare's aging MPLS network, ultimately introducing the company to Cato Networks for a modern SD-WAN solution with backup internet circuits and simplified firewall management. C4 engineers supported the international conversion every step of the way, including late-night troubleshooting sessions with MicroCare's team in Singapore to keep the cutover on track.
