MicroCare Eliminates Infrastructure Risk and Builds for What's Next

The Challenge

As MicroCare expanded globally, its legacy ERP environment struggled to keep up. Remote users across international locations faced persistent performance issues and unreliable secure access, directly impacting productivity. At the infrastructure level, there was no built-in redundancy, leaving the business exposed to significant operational risk. With the company's growth accelerating and infrastructure vulnerabilities becoming harder to ignore, leadership recognized that MicroCare needed a more resilient, scalable environment built to support its expanding, geographically distributed business.

The Solution

To address these vulnerabilities head-on, MicroCare turned to C4 Communications to identify a hosting environment that could meet the demands of its ERP system and broader infrastructure. C4's Solution Consultant led a structured evaluation comparing a SaaS-based transition, migration to hyperscale platforms such as Azure and AWS, and a TierPoint-managed Azure environment. The process included a total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis and a visual architecture design to align stakeholders across the business.

The analysis showed that moving to a modern cloud environment would be cost-neutral from an operational standpoint while delivering meaningful improvements in resiliency, scalability, and performance. Based on those findings, C4 recommended a TierPoint-managed Azure solution, driven by its reliability, alignment with MicroCare's existing cloud strategy, and the opportunity to consolidate Azure workloads into a single, unified environment.

TierPoint designed the cloud architecture with built-in disaster recovery and business continuity, built and configured the environment, and managed the migration from the legacy hosting platform. TierPoint also secured approximately $25,000 in Microsoft funding, which covered the majority of migration costs and significantly reduced MicroCare's upfront investment.

C4's project management team ensured the new environment was securely integrated into MicroCare's existing SASE network – creating a unified architecture that improved both security and app performance across the manufacturer's global locations. Post-implementation, C4 and TierPoint remain actively engaged to monitor usage, control costs, and continuously optimize the environment as it moves into steady-state operations.

The Results

Thanks to C4's help, MicroCare gained immediate operational improvements and an infrastructure set up for long-term success. With the new solution, MicroCare was able to:

  • Establish a resilient, cloud-based ERP environment with built-in redundancy that eliminates single points of failure
  • Implement a documented disaster recovery (DR) failover playbook to ensure a structured and repeatable response during outages
  • Deploy a scalable infrastructure foundation capable of supporting ongoing growth through acquisition and geographic expansion
  • Access TierPoint’s managed Azure expertise, improving day-to-day operations, monitoring, and long-term platform health
  • Consolidate workloads into a centralized cloud environment, simplifying architecture and improving visibility across systems
  • Leverage advanced cloud capabilities on demand, including platforms like Azure AI services to support innovation
